Instrumentation:

2 flutes, Oboe, 3 clarinets, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, 4 Saxophone (A/A/T/B), 2 trumpets, 2 horns, 3 trombones, Euphonium, Tuba, Timpani, 3 percussion

Percussion 1: Crotales, Glockenspiel

Percussion 2: Suspended Cymbals

Percussion 3: Wind Chimes, Tam-Tam, as many triangles as possible*

*extra percussionists may be employed for this effect

August Morn is a short piece for wind ensemble which depicts an August sunrise. The clarinets begin the piece, and as more instruments are added, the sun breaks through. A moment of reflection about the morning follows, before the sunrise comes back again at its full breadth.
